Garuda Wisnu Kencana Bali: Tickets, Shows and Tour

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (GWK) is a 60-hectare park in Ungasan, on the road to Uluwatu and 10 to 25 minutes from Bali’s airport, built around a 121 m statue of the god Vishnu riding the Garuda. Standard admission is IDR 150,000 (~USD 9) as of November 2026, the park is open 9am to 9pm every day, and the daily dance shows, including the 6pm Kecak at the Lotus Pond, are covered by that ticket. Go for the statue, the shows and an easy half day near the Bukit Peninsula. Add the Top of Statue tour only if you want the view from inside.

The park works as a half day on its own or as the first stop of an Uluwatu day. Children under 100 cm enter free, the main paths are paved, and a free shuttle runs from the car park to the ticketing plaza. The rest of the island is in the Bali destination guide.

GWK Tickets: Which One to Buy

Prices are in the ticket box above. The choice comes down to five options, and the official site at gwkbali.com sells all of them.

  • Standard admission. Covers the grounds, the ASANA Artseum, the daily performances, the animated film at the Garuda Sineloka mini theatre and one drink at Jendela Bali Restaurant. It does not cover the inside of the statue or the BarAong show.
  • Admission with the Top of Statue tour. Sold as the Ultimate Package. It adds a guided lift tour to the 9th and 23rd floors of the statue, and the ticket allows same-day re-entry if you get a stamp at the exit gate.
  • BarAong show only. The 6pm BarAong show, 30 minutes long, on Wednesday to Saturday. Seating is first come, first served, and the ticket does not include the park.
  • Admission with BarAong. Standard admission plus the BarAong show, the one to buy if you want both.
  • Buggy add-on. A paid ride from the ticketing area to the statue. The shuttle from the car park to the ticketing plaza is free.

Entry is by height, not age: children under 100 cm are free and taller children pay the ticket rate. Booking platforms list standard admission at IDR 105,000 to 135,000 (~USD 6.50 to 8) in November 2026, below the IDR 150,000 price on the official site. Platform tickets are non-refundable. The official site takes cards, GoPay, OVO and QRIS, and sends the ticket by email.

GWK Opening Hours, Last Entry and Closed Dates

GWK is open from 9am to 9pm every day, and last entry is at 8pm, as of November 2026. The shuttle and buggy stop before the 9pm closing, so a late exit means a longer walk.

The park closes for Nyepi, the Day of Silence, which falls on 8 March 2027; ticket listings show 7 and 8 March 2027 as closed. Regular and statue-tour tickets are not valid on 31 December 2026, when GWK runs its paid Bali Countdown event. The official ticket calendar blocks any date the park is closed. Our Nyepi guide lists everything else that shuts that day.

GWK Shows: Daily Schedule and the 6pm Kecak

The official schedule lists 15 performances a day. Everything in the table is covered by standard admission except the BarAong show, as of November 2026. The official daily performance page carries the current times.

Time Performance
10:00 Sekar Jepun, Jauk Keras
11:00 Gong Suling, Oleg Tamulilingan
12:00 Jauk Keras, Gamelan Rindik
13:00 Sekar Nirwana, Kebyar Terompong
14:00 Gender, Topeng Monyer, Jauk Manis
15:00 Oleg Tamulilingan, Barong Bojog
16:00 Bali Cultural Parade
17:00 Joged Bumbung
18:00 Kecak Garuda Wisnu Kencana (daily, beneath the statue at the Lotus Pond); BarAong show (Wednesday to Saturday, separate ticket)

The Kecak runs 45 to 60 minutes. It starts at 6pm, the same hour as the Kecak at Uluwatu Temple, so you can see only one of them on a given evening. GWK’s is staged beneath the statue at the Lotus Pond, and Uluwatu’s is in the cliffside amphitheatre at sunset. The Uluwatu guide has the temple show’s ticket price and seating.

The GWK Statue and Grounds: What You Can See

The statue is 75 m tall on a 46 m base, 121 m in total, which is 30 m taller than the Statue of Liberty. Sculptor Nyoman Nuarta designed it in 1990, and President Joko Widodo inaugurated it on 22 September 2018 after a 28-year build. It weighs 4,000 tonnes and is clad in copper and brass.

  • Plaza Garuda and Plaza Wisnu. The two viewing plazas below the statue. Plaza Garuda has an 18 m Garuda head, and Plaza Wisnu has a Vishnu statue and is the sunset viewpoint.
  • Lotus Pond. An open-air arena of carved limestone pillars. The 6pm Kecak is staged here.
  • Limestone canyon paths. Cliff-lined limestone paths between the plazas are the main photo spots.
  • ASANA Artseum. The park’s art museum, included in standard admission.
  • Festival Park and the Street Theater. Shops, food stalls and stage areas. GWK also hosts events such as the Ogoh-ogoh festival and the Bali Countdown.

Top of Statue Tour: Is It Worth Adding?

The tour costs IDR 200,000 to 250,000 (~USD 12 to 15) on top of standard admission. A guide takes you up by lift to the 9th floor, which holds exhibitions on how the statue was built, and to the 23rd floor, which has views of Bali’s southern coast. Allow 60 to 90 minutes.

  • Take it if the construction story or a high view of the south coast matters to you.
  • Skip it if the budget is tight. The plazas show the whole statue, which the lift tour cannot, and standard admission already covers the plazas and every show.
  • Buy it with your ticket. Tour slots are limited, and you confirm the tour at the information centre at Plaza Bhagawan on arrival.

How Long to Spend at GWK and the Best Time of Day

Plan Arrive Time needed What it covers
Morning grounds visit 9:00 2 to 3 hours Statue, plazas, canyon paths and the first dance shows, in the coolest and quietest hours
Sunset visit 3:30 to 4:00pm 3 to 3.5 hours Parade at 4pm, Joged Bumbung at 5pm and Kecak at 6pm, with the statue in evening light
Either plan with the statue tour As above Add 60 to 90 minutes Lift tour to the 9th and 23rd floors

Midday is the hard slot: the plazas have little shade and the UV is extreme. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water, and wear shoes with grip, because the limestone paths are hilly and slippery after rain. May to September, the dry season, suits GWK best. In the wet season showers arrive without warning and the limestone paths turn slippery. The best time to visit Bali guide has month-by-month weather.

How to Get to GWK From the Airport, Seminyak and Ubud

From Drive time off-peak
Ngurah Rai Airport 10 to 25 minutes
Kuta 20 to 30 minutes
Seminyak 30 to 60 minutes
Uluwatu Temple 15 to 25 minutes
Ubud 1.5 to 2 hours

The roads to the Bukit slow from 3pm to 7pm, so leave Seminyak by 2pm for the sunset plan. Canggu is a longer drive than Seminyak; journey times and fares between Bali areas lists the peak-hour numbers.

  • Car with driver. A day rate of IDR 600,000 to 1,100,000 (~USD 37 to 68) covers GWK and Uluwatu together, and the driver waits. It is the plan for Ubud and Canggu bases.
  • Grab or Gojek. Fine for the trip in. Drivers on the Bukit cancel after sunset, so book the ride out early or keep a driver.
  • Scooter. Parking is IDR 5,000 (~USD 0.30). Riding legally needs the licences covered in the scooter rental rules and checks.

The car park has a free shuttle to the ticketing plaza, Plaza Bhagawan. From there the statue is a walk uphill or a paid buggy ride. The park is wheelchair accessible.

GWK and Uluwatu on One Day: Two Plans

  • GWK in the morning, Uluwatu for sunset. Enter at 9am, see the statue and the 10am and 11am shows, and leave by 12:30pm. Take lunch and a beach at low tide, then reach the temple by 4:30pm for its 6pm Kecak. This plan puts GWK in the cool hours and keeps the tide and sunset timing in the Uluwatu guide intact.
  • GWK for the whole afternoon and evening. Arrive at 3:30pm, catch the parade, Joged Bumbung and the GWK Kecak, and eat in Jimbaran afterwards. This plan skips the temple crowds, and the Bali food guide covers the seafood strip.

GWK sits between the airport and the Bukit Peninsula, so Padang Padang and Jimbaran are close too. For temples, beaches and day trips across the island, see things to do in Bali by area.

Eating at GWK

The Jendela Bali Restaurant has panoramic views, and standard admission includes a drink there. It takes table bookings on the GWK website. Beranda Resto serves an all-you-can-eat buffet, and a food court, Starbucks and Afung (local dishes) cover quicker meals.

GWK Dress Code and What to Bring

  • Dress. There is no formal dress code. Modest clothing is advised because it is a cultural site, and revealing clothing is discouraged.
  • Shoes. Closed shoes or sandals with grip. The paths include stairs, stone and slopes.
  • Sun and rain. A hat, sunscreen and a compact umbrella cover both seasons.
  • Children and older visitors. The shuttle and buggy cut the uphill walk, and the animated film at Garuda Sineloka gives children a seated break.
