Spas and Wellness in Bali

A one-hour massage in Bali costs IDR 100,000 to 200,000 (~USD 7 to 13) at a local shop, IDR 240,000 to 500,000 (~USD 15 to 31) at a day spa and IDR 800,000 to 1,750,000 (~USD 50 to 108) at a resort spa, as of November 2026. A yoga drop-in class at The Yoga Barn, The Practice and Samadi costs IDR 155,000 to 180,000 (~USD 10 to 12), and a 7-day retreat package is listed from USD 392.

The menu price is not always the price you pay. A “++” after a price means tax and service charge are added, which raises the bill by 15% to 22%, and a tip is optional on top. Ubud has the widest range and The Yoga Barn’s eight studios, Seminyak has the premium day spas, Canggu pairs yoga with gyms and recovery venues, and Uluwatu has the cliff-top hotel spas.

Bali Massage Prices: The Four-Tier Ladder

Every figure below is for a 60-minute massage, taken from spa price lists and four spa guides, as of November 2026. USD brackets use IDR 16,300 per USD, rounded up.

Menus marked “++” or “not including tax and service charge” add 15% to 22%. Karsa Spa in Ubud adds 15%. Bodyworks in Petitenget adds a 15% government tax and a 5% service charge, 21% together. Sang Spa & Yoga Centre in Ubud lists a 12% service charge and a 10% tax. Compare quotes on the all-in total, not the menu number.

Length matters less than the tier. At Karsa Spa, 90 minutes of Traditional Balinese massage costs IDR 350,000 (~USD 22) against IDR 240,000 (~USD 15) for 60 minutes, so the extra 30 minutes adds IDR 110,000 (~USD 7).

Types of Massage and Spa Treatments in Bali

Balinese massage is the default order. It combines long strokes, pressure on points around the neck, scalp and shoulders, stretching and aromatherapy oil. Every other treatment is a change in pressure, technique or length. The table shows listed prices from the spas’ own menus, as of November 2026, with “++” meaning tax and service charge are added.

Two treatments are worth a search if the usual menu bores you. Flower baths and hammam sessions are offered at Maya Ubud and Prana Spa. Ashiatsu, offered at Ki Ashiatsu + Massage Studio in Seminyak, uses the therapist’s feet for deep pressure.

Where to Go for a Spa in Bali by Area

Pick the area first, because price tiers cluster by neighbourhood.

Ubud: The Widest Range

Seminyak and Petitenget: The Premium Day Spas

Seminyak’s spas sit on Jalan Petitenget, Jalan Kunti and Jalan Raya Basangkasa. The Seminyak spa comparison table lists six of them in a comparison table. Two have public price lists:

• Jari Menari. Jalan Basangkasa 21. Four-hand massage costs IDR 742,000++ (~USD 46) for 60 minutes, and The Perfect Massage costs IDR 697,000++ (~USD 43) for 90 minutes. The Ultimate One Day Wellness package costs IDR 2,500,000++ (~USD 154) for one person and IDR 5,000,000++ (~USD 307) for a couple. It includes a 90-minute massage, lunch at Nyaman Gallery, a 45-minute foot massage and a 60-minute facial. Prices are on the spa menu page, and booking is online or by WhatsApp.
• Bodyworks. Jalan Lebak Sari 3, Petitenget. Open daily 9:00 to 22:00 as of November 2026. Full-body massage costs IDR 650,000++ (~USD 40) for 70 minutes, and the 15% tax and 5% service charge are added to the listed price.
• Prana Spa and Spa Alila Seminyak. Prana Spa on Jalan Kunti offers hammam sessions, and Spa Alila Seminyak on Jalan Taman Ganesha is a hotel spa.

Canggu: Yoga, Gyms and Recovery Venues

Canggu is where yoga, strength training and recovery venues share the same streets. EcoSpa at Ecosfera Hotel offers Balinese and Royal Thai massage, and AMO Spa lists a sauna, steam room and ice baths plus an in-villa service. Uluwatu: Everyday Spas and Cliff-Top Resorts

Uluwatu has two spa markets. Everyday spas along Jalan Labuansait and in Pecatu charge IDR 150,000 to 310,000 (~USD 10 to 20) for a 60-minute massage as of November 2026. Cliff-top hotel spas, including Spa Alila at Alila Villas Uluwatu, Karma Spa at Karma Kandara, The Spa at The Edge and The Bvlgari Spa, sit in the resort tier. Sanur, Nusa Dua and Jimbaran

Sanur’s spas include Chantara Wellness & Spa, which offers massages, facials and a signature multi-step ritual, and Leha Leha Spa, which adds couples treatments. On the south-east coast, Nusa Dua and Jimbaran are hotel-spa territory: Kriya Spa at Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua, Zahra Luxury Spa in Nusa Dua and Thermes Marins Spa at Ayana Resort in Jimbaran.

Yoga in Bali: Studios, Drop-In Prices and Class Packs

Three studios publish their prices, and all three sell single classes without a membership. Prices are from each studio’s own price page, as of November 2026.

Radiantly Alive, on Jalan Jembawan in Ubud, lists its class schedule and studio healings on its website. Studios price three ways: a regular rate, a KITAS rate for residents and a lower rate for Indonesian ID holders. At Samadi the regular rate is IDR 155,000 (~USD 10), the KITAS rate IDR 135,000 (~USD 9) and the Indonesian ID rate IDR 110,000 (~USD 7).

Beyond yoga, The Yoga Barn runs Ecstatic Dance for IDR 190,000 (~USD 12) upstairs and IDR 120,000 (~USD 8) downstairs, and Samadi lists breathwork and sound healing workshops on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:15am. Teacher trainings run at both, including Samadi’s 200-hour multistyle course from 22 November to 13 December 2026. Wellness Retreats and Multi-Day Stays in Bali

A retreat package bundles lodging, meals and daily classes, and the price depends on length. These are the “from” prices on 30 Bali listings of the BookRetreats marketplace, as of November 2026, in USD per listing:

If you do not want to sleep at the venue, spas sell full-day packages. Karsa Spa lists the Buddha Package (2.5 hours) at IDR 600,000++ (~USD 37), the Saraswati Package (4 hours) at IDR 950,000++ (~USD 59) and the All Day Transformation Package (6 hours) at IDR 1,450,000++ (~USD 89). Jari Menari’s One Day Wellness package sits above them at IDR 2,500,000++ (~USD 154).

The long-running retreat names are The Yoga Barn and Radiantly Alive in Ubud and Samadi in Canggu, with Bali Silent Retreat in Tabanan and Power of Now Oasis in Sanur on the Rough Guides list. The dry season, April to October, has lower humidity and clearer skies. May, June and September are less busy than July and August, and Ubud’s top properties fill around New Year, so book those dates early. Day Spa or Hotel Spa: Booking, Tax, Tipping and What to Wear

Booking

Book a named day spa one to two days ahead, and two to three days ahead in July and August. Basic massage shops accept walk-ins. Many spas take bookings by WhatsApp, and Jari Menari and Bodyworks both list a WhatsApp number on their sites. Confirm the cancellation policy when you book, because some resort spas charge for a missed appointment. Arrive 15 minutes early at spas with steam rooms or plunge pools.

Tax and service charge

The price you see is often before tax. A “++” or “not including tax and service charge” note means the bill adds 15% to 22%. If a quote has no note, ask whether it is the final total.

Tipping

Tipping is optional. Where the bill has no service charge, IDR 20,000 to 50,000 (~USD 2 to 4) is the usual tip for a one-hour massage. What to wear

Wear loose, comfortable clothing to and from the spa. The spa provides a robe or sarong for the treatment, and most Bali spas supply disposable underwear if you have not brought your own. Draping is used for privacy, and for a flower bath the staff leave the room while you undress. Tell the therapist about any oil or spice allergies before the oil goes on. Leave valuables in your hotel safe.

Getting there

These plans use only spas and studios with public price lists. Tax is added where the spa states it: 15% at Karsa Spa and 21% (15% tax plus 5% service, compounded) at Bodyworks. Totals are for one person, rounded to the next IDR 1,000.
